Search Garrard County Court Records
Garrard County court records start with two state court tools and one local clerk fallback. The public case-search entry point is KYeCourts guest public records access, which identifies Public Court Records as free access to public case information throughout Kentucky. The user completes the captcha checkbox and continues into the public search path. The same page also separates public case information from ePay and from official criminal record reports.
The daily and upcoming court-date tool is the Kentucky docket portal. It searches by county, division, date, courtroom, and subdivision. Select Garrard as the county, choose Circuit or District, enter the court date, and use ALL for courtroom or subdivision unless the clerk or notice gives a more specific setting. Docket results are not the official record and can change, so a high-stakes court date should still be checked with the Circuit Court Clerk.
The official screen capture from the page is from the same KYeCourts public records portal.
That portal is useful for public case data, but certified copies and older files still run through the local court clerk.
- Open KYeCourts guest access and complete the captcha before continuing.
- Search by party, case number, or the available case details once the public search form loads.
- Use the docket portal when the main question is a hearing date or daily docket.
- Call or visit the Circuit Court Clerk if a document image, certified copy, sealed-status answer, or older file is needed.
- Use ePay only for eligible fines, fees, and costs. Payment does not erase the case record.
Garrard County Justice Center
The state court address for Garrard County case records is the Garrard County Justice Center, 54 Stanford Street, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444. The Office of Circuit Court Clerk is located there. Dana Hensley is the Circuit Court Clerk. The main clerk phone is 859-792-2961, jury service is 859-792-6032, and the fax is 859-792-6414. Published hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The county government public-square address is separate. Garrard County government pages point to 15 Public Square #5, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444, for county government directions. Court case records, dockets, jury service, bond, court payments, probate, District Court, Circuit Court, and Family Court records point back to the justice center unless a specific office tells a requester otherwise.

The state court-record request instructions explain the clerk fallback for court files.
That request path matters when a file is in the clerk office, in a record facility, or no longer retained under court schedules.
Garrard County Court System
Kentucky uses a unified Court of Justice. Garrard County is in the 13th Judicial Circuit and 13th Judicial District. Circuit Court is the primary trial court for felony matters, major civil cases, appeals from District Court, and other general-jurisdiction matters. Family Court is a division of Circuit Court and handles divorce, custody, adoption, dependency, neglect, abuse, and related domestic matters. District Court handles lower-level criminal matters, traffic, probate, small claims, city and county ordinances, domestic violence, juvenile matters, and mental-health commitments.
The Kentucky Circuit Court overview explains the general-jurisdiction role used by Garrard County Circuit Court.
That state-level structure is why local Garrard court records flow through Kentucky judiciary systems rather than a county-run court database.
| Court or Office | Garrard County Role | Record Access Point |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Court | Felony, circuit civil, appeals, general trial matters | Circuit Court Clerk and KYeCourts |
| Family Court division | Divorce, custody, adoption, dependency, neglect, abuse | Circuit Court Clerk, with restrictions for adoption and child records |
| District Court | Misdemeanor, traffic, probate, small claims, preliminary felony, domestic violence | Circuit Court Clerk, docket portal, KYeCourts |
| County Clerk | Marriage licenses, deeds, elections, motor vehicles, county records | Garrard County Clerk, not the court clerk |
Case flow: arrest or filing > District Court when required > Circuit Court for felony or appeal paths > Kentucky Court of Appeals when appellate review is available.
Garrard County Court Dockets
Garrard County docket searches are best handled through the Kentucky docket portal. The portal lets a user choose Garrard County, Circuit or District division, a date, and optional courtroom or subdivision filters. It also states that the online result is not an official docket, is subject to change, and may not show true case status at the exact time a user checks it.
Published local schedule details are strong for Garrard County. District Court normally sits Monday at 9 a.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Circuit Criminal is listed for the third Friday at 9 a.m. Circuit Civil is listed for the first Friday at 9 a.m. Domestic Violence is Friday at 8:30 a.m. Dependency, neglect, and abuse dates are the first, third, and fifth Friday at 10 a.m., with times set by the judge. Garrard County Court Records
Garrard County court records vary by court level. Civil records may include complaints, summonses, motions, orders, judgments, garnishments, liens, and notices of appeal. Criminal court files may include complaints, citations, indictments, warrants, bond orders, plea entries, motion practice, disposition, sentencing, probation, revocation, and financial obligations. Traffic records are court files in District Court, but Kentucky driver-history records are separate state transportation records.
Family and probate records require extra care. Divorce and custody docket information may be public in part, but adoption, juvenile, dependency, neglect, abuse, and protected-party information can be restricted. Probate files are generally handled through District Court probate jurisdiction and may show wills, estate petitions, fiduciary appointments, inventories, claims, accountings, and final settlement entries.
- Disposition
- The final result of a charge, claim, or case event.
- Bench warrant
- A warrant issued by a judge, often after a missed court date.
- Indictment
- A grand jury charging document used for felony prosecution.
- Expungement
- A court process that removes or seals eligible records from normal public access.
Garrard County Criminal Records
Criminal court records and arrest records are related but not the same file. An arrest or citation can start the law-enforcement side. The court charge record begins when a complaint, citation, information, or indictment is filed in court. District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, ordinance cases, traffic offenses, arraignments, and felony probable-cause hearings. Felony charges move to Circuit Court for final disposition after indictment or transfer.
Official criminal record reports are a separate channel from public case search. The Kentucky Court of Justice background-check page is the state source for criminal record reports. KYeCourts can show public case information, but a printout from public search is not the same as an official background report. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and confidential records may not appear in public search.
The Kentucky Court of Justice background-check page is the official criminal report channel.
That distinction helps keep Garrard County public case lookup separate from ordered criminal history reports.
Garrard County Traffic Records
Traffic cases in Garrard County are District Court records. A court traffic record can show the citation number, charge, statute, plea, court date, fine or cost, failure-to-appear action, disposition, and related docket entries. A state driver-history record is different. Driver history is held through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Drive.KY.gov, and it can show license status, reported convictions, points, suspensions, and driver history.
| Record | Held By | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Court traffic case | Garrard District Court and Circuit Court Clerk | Pay, contest, confirm court date, or request court copies |
| Driver history | Kentucky Transportation Cabinet | Review license status, points, suspensions, and reported convictions |
| Crash report | Law-enforcement or Kentucky State Police records channel | Obtain accident report information, separate from the court docket |
Read the citation first. Then check KYeCourts or ePay if the charge is payable online, use the docket portal for the court date, and call the Circuit Court Clerk before the date if a continuance or appearance question exists.
Garrard County Warrants and Jail
No official Garrard County active-warrant online list was located in the research. The law-enforcement starting point is the Garrard County Sheriff's Office, and Sheriff Willie Skeens is listed with phone 859-792-3591. Bench warrants and warrant-related court events may also be reflected in court case records through the Circuit Court Clerk, KYeCourts, or the docket portal. Cash is required for bond under the Garrard court page's payment information.
Garrard County also does not operate a jail. The county has a Jailer, Kevin Middleton, with phone 859-792-2591, but the county page says the Jailer transports inmates for court appearances and questions about individual inmates should be addressed to the housing facility. Boyle County Detention Center is an official/agency detention source located during research, and the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup is the state channel for sentenced state offenders.
- Warrant questions: call the Sheriff for law-enforcement warrant information.
- Bench warrant or court date: call the Circuit Court Clerk for case context.
- Custody location: ask the Jailer or responsible facility where the person is housed.
- State custody: use KOOL for Kentucky state offenders, not pretrial county custody.
Garrard County Marriage and Probate
Marriage, divorce, and probate records do not all sit in one office. Marriage licenses and local marriage records are County Clerk functions. The Garrard County Clerk is Kevin Montgomery, and the county clerk phone listed in research is 859-792-3071. Divorce files are court records through the Family Court division of Circuit Court and the Circuit Court Clerk. State-certified marriage and divorce record paths also run through the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics.
Probate is handled in District Court probate jurisdiction in Kentucky. KRS 24A.120 gives District Court civil and probate jurisdiction, including probate matters except contested adversary proceedings. Probate forms and case records route through the Circuit Court Clerk, and the Kentucky probate guide cautions that clerks cannot give legal advice.
The Kentucky Family Court program page explains the family-court framework that applies to Garrard County divorce, custody, adoption, and related domestic matters.
Family Court records can be partly public, but adoption and child-protection details are not ordinary public lookup material.
Garrard County Public Access
Kentucky public-record law and court confidentiality rules both matter for Garrard County records. KRS 61.872 recognizes the right of Kentucky residents to inspect nonexempt public records and allows agencies to require a written request describing the records. KRS 61.878 lists exemptions that can support withholding or redacting records. These statutes do not make every court document public.
Key limits: Juvenile records are restricted under KRS 610.340, and expunged records may be removed from normal public access under KRS 431.073.
County administrative records use the Garrard County open-records request process. Court case copies use the Circuit Court Clerk. State agency records, such as driver history or state custody, use the responsible state agency. That split is important because sending a request to the wrong office can delay the search.
Garrard County Specialty Courts
Kentucky specialty courts are administered through the Kentucky Court of Justice. Drug court, mental health court, veterans treatment court, and family recovery court models may involve treatment, supervision, testing, service referrals, incentives, sanctions, and regular review hearings. No Garrard-specific specialty-court roster or participant count was located, so eligibility should be checked through the local court, counsel, prosecutor, or program staff.
The Kentucky specialty courts page is the state-level program source.
Specialty-court participation can affect a case path, but the original case record remains tied to the court and clerk system.
Federal cases are separate. Garrard County federal civil, criminal, bankruptcy, and appellate matters use the Eastern District of Kentucky, CM/ECF, PACER, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, the Sixth Circuit, and related federal agencies. CourtListener can help with free federal and appellate research, but it is not the official record.
A research supplement such as CourtListener can help locate opinions and some docket material, though it is not the official record.
Official federal filings and complete federal docket access still run through the federal judiciary systems.
Garrard County Court Payments
The Garrard County Kentucky Court of Justice page lists payment methods as cash, personal check, money order, credit card, and debit card, with a card fee. Bond requires cash. ePay is the online payment channel for eligible fines, fees, and costs. Copy fees were not located in official Garrard research, so current certified-copy and filing costs should be confirmed with the clerk before payment.

| Clerk payment methods | Cash, personal check, money order, credit card, debit card |
| Card payments | Card fee applies |
| Bond | Cash required |
| ePay | Available through KYeCourts for eligible fines, fees, and costs |
